About Coach B

I’m a lacrosse fanatic.  I love playing lax, watching lax and coaching lax. I played 4 years in college as a defenseman and then played on a number of post-collegiate club teams.  Recently I started playing again in an adult pick-up league.  I love coaching – I get a great deal of satisfaction in teaching the game to kids and seeing them excel on the field.  I’m excited and proud to be a part of the Chiefs lacrosse organization.  My 2009 boys team started the year with more than half the players never having picked up a stick before and we ended the season 14-3-1!  We also took second place at the Lightning Lacrosse Thunderbolt Tournament in Princeton, NJ.  My 2010 5th grade team went 19-3-1.  In 2011, my 6th grade team finished 17-6-2.  I coached a New Providence/Berkeley Heights Winter Team in the ISP league and coached  Team THUNDERSTRUCK to the 2010 6th grade division Championship in the Fairleigh-Dickinson University Fall Lacrosse League.  I am presently affiliated with Full Force Lacrosse and coaching teams in the Fall and Winter.  This Winter (2011-12) I am also helping to coach the New Providence H.S. varsity lacrosse team in the indoor winter league.

Although its nice to win, my goal as a coach is to teach the fundamentals of the sport and make sure the players have fun learning and playing.  Lessons imparted to young adults early in life can last forever.  Though I tailor my teaching to different teams and player personalities, my coaching style revolves around an obsession with stick skills. If a player or team can’t throw and catch, they can’t clear the ball, run an offense, or score a goal.
