Stats From Game Vs Watchung Hills (4/17/10)

Posted by Barry Marenberg on April 18, 2010

Awesome game on Saturday vs. Watchung Hills – a team we did not beat last year!  I’m very proud of all our players.  Here are some stats from the game (thanks again to Dave Hannaford for keeping the scorebook):

– Scoring Percentage: We shot 30% but we scored 9 goals!  Our scoring percentage went down from the previous game but we scored more goals and took a lot of shots.

Goals: Goals were scored by Nieves (2), Castagna( 2), Carney (1), Haddad (1) who went end to end and scored with a long stick!, Pencek (1) for his first of the season, Fevola (1) for his first of the season and Reynolds (1) for his first ever goal as a lacrosse player.  Great job guys.  I’m looking forward to getting scoring from even more players in future games.

Assists: On the 9 goals scored, 3 were assisted.  This is a stat I would like to improve a great deal.

Save/Clears: Patrick Trezza playing goal for us up from the 4th grade squad had 7 saves and successfully cleared 8 out of 9 times!.  Wow!  That’s a great stat for him and our transition defensemen and middies.

Face-Offs: in spite of the score we again didn’t win the majority of our face-offs (only 2 of 5) so we will work on this in practice.

Ground Balls: the team picked up 28 ground balls in the game.  This is less than our previous game and in part attributable to the fact that we kept the ball in the air much more than the prior games.

Penalties: we committed 5 minutes of penalties yesterday: 3 pushing technicals,  2 slashing penalties, 1 trip and 1 illegal check.  We’ve got to try and cut down on the penalties.

I hope our players come out fired up again for our game on Wednesday vs. Cranford.

See you on the field!
