Two Big Wins Yesterday!! Chiefs move to 2-1

Posted by Barry Marenberg on April 4, 2010

The 5th grade Chiefs had two decisive wins on Saturday.  In the first game we beat East Brunswick by a score of 7-1.  Connor Morang played the full game in the goal and was stellar.  He had the full support of the Defense and the Offense provided him with great scoring.  Connor continued in the goal in the second game vs. Hillsborough for the first half and then James Duffy took over in goal in the second half.  Our Chiefs again came out on top by a score of 5-1.

What a difference it was this weekend compared to last week.   The players worked hard in practice on Thursday night and it seems to have paid off in our games.  The passing and catching was significantly improved.  We played hard, fast and smart.  Obviously there was scoring and all the players just seemed to have really showed up ready to give 110%.  I’m very proud of every single player on the team.  Emphasis on the word “team” because we truly played like one yesterday!!

This coming Saturday is the Big City Classic at the new Giants/Jets Stadium (no Chiefs games).  If it’s anything like last year it will be awesome.  First off, the Chiefs have a great tailgate in the parking lot before and between all the games.  There should be a lot of food and the boys can throw around lacrosse balls, etc.  The games are top notch and there is so much for the boys to learn from watching lacrosse at its highest level.

Next Sunday we get back to business vs. a familiar opponent – Somerset Hills.  The game is 9:30am at Ridge H.S. in Basking Ridge.  Me and all the team coaches will work with all the players at practice this week to continue building on the wins yesterday so we can continue adding to the “W” column.

As soon as I have the stats from yesterday’s games I will post them here.

 See you on the field.
